The attached photo is of our honorary library dog, Derby. Derby is a 10 year old flatcoated retriever. He started coming to the library in February when he was recovering from surgery and needed a quiet place to relax.
The kids love him and he has now become an integral part of our library in many ways: performing a dancing routine for our summer reading program, marching for the library in the town Halloween Parade, and participating in our upcoming Kids Read to Dogs program.
He loves the library and gets very excited as the car pulls up the street! On this day, we found him in the stacks reading intently (note the tongue as he concentrates...). DULL BOY (by Sarah Cross) is a good book for him to read since, like Avery, he gives the façade of a normal dog, when (as you can see) he’s anything but normal!
The first picture includes my coworker Tawnya on the left and me on the right because, for some reason, people tend to think we're sisters. Of course, we posed with (Michelle Zink's) PROPHECY OF THE SISTERS! The next is a photo of my unofficial library cat, Oscar. He really wants to come to the library and pose with all of your books, but he isn't allowed.

I’m sending you a photo of Mr. Robinson, one of our teen area staff/mascot. He thoroughly enjoyed "You are So Undead to Me," and is looking forward to the sequel (Undead Much?), and "My So Called Death."
Here is our picture, including Chunk & Mr. Squiggles! Yes, they are real live zhu zhu hamsters - a very rare breed this time of year, but they wanted to check out the 2009 debut novels here at the College Hill branch of the Westminster Public Library.
